The fastener imports and exports of Jiaxing city in the first seven months of 2012 fell to US$575 million. The exports declined 5.1% to US$560 million while imports rose 7.5% to US$15 million.

Jiaxing Fastener Exports Highlights:

Exports to the main markets saw decrease except for the U.S. The U.S. and EU continued to be the main consumers of Jiaxing’s fasteners, importing 43.6% of Jiaxing’s fasteners to US$244 million in the first seven months of 2012. However, among the top 27 importers, 20 ones saw decrease. Exports to EU, Russia ASEAN declined 21.24%, 18.9% and 10.18%, respectively.

Half of the big companies’ export value fell. Five of the top ten export companies of fasteners in Jiaxing saw differently decrease in export value from Jan.-Jul in 2012 compared with the same period in 2011. Zhejiang Zhapu saw the largest decrease rate of 36.84%.

The general trade is still the main way to export fasteners. The total export value by general trade dropped 4.32% to US$530 million, taking up 94.57% of the city’s total fastener exports.

Export volume and price both declined. The fastener export volume of Jiaxing city in the first seven months dropped 5.5% to 400 thousand tons while export value decreased 5.1% to US$560 million. The average export price fell 9% to US$1266/ton from US$1393/ton in the same period of 2011.
